(LOS ANGELES) -- Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth appear to be worlds apart – or at least continents – amid rumors that their engagement is off.

Hemsworth was spotted, sans Cyrus, hanging out with friends on a beach in his native Australia Sunday. Days earlier, Us Weekly reported, he was seen hanging out with his actor-brother Chris Hemsworth, sister-in-law Elsa Pataky and niece India Rose.

While the Hunger Games hunk has been down under, his fiancee, Cyrus, has been photographed in Los Angeles, without her engagement ring.

The singer and actress, 20, was spotted late Wednesday outside a Los Angeles recording studio where, People reported, she was not wearing the same 3.5-carat diamond on her ring finger that Hemsworth, 23, gave her when he proposed. The photos were first captured by x17 Online.

Earlier in the day, she tweeted that she did not call off her engagement, despite rumors to the contrary.

“I am so sick of LA. And sick of the lies that come with it. I didn’t call off my wedding,” she wrote. “Taking a break from social media #draining.”

She also wrote that her new music will “shut everyone up.”
