1957 - Fats Domino took to the “Perry Como Show” and performed his hit singles “Blueberry Hill” and “Blue Monday” for a national televised audience.

1973 - Keith Emerson injured his hands after his piano, rigged up with pyrotechnics to explode as a stage stunt, detonated prematurely.

1979 - The Sex PistolsSid Vicious died of a heroin overdose less than four months after fatally stabbing girlfriend Nancy Spungen at New York’s Chelsea Hotel.

1992 - Todd Rundgren and wife, singer Michele Gray, welcomed a son in San Francisco. They named their new child Rebop.

2001 - Detroit reversed their decision to give Ted Nugent a key to the city after the mayor was informed of some of the guitarist’s controversial views. “I have no negative feelings whatsoever,” said Nugent. “He’s got to do what he’s got to do, and I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do.”

2006 - Richie Sambora and Heather Locklear announced their break-up after an 11 year marriage.
