1956 - Little Richard scored his first R&B No.1 hit with “Slippin’ and Slidin’,” while the B-side, “Long Tall Sally,” became his first Top 10 pop hit.

1967 - Pink Floyd recorded their first single, “Arnold Layne.”

1970 - Oklahoma City fined Jefferson Airplane $1,000 for using profanity during a concert.

1980 - The Doobie Brothers struck Grammy Gold with their “What a Fool Believes.” The song won for Record and Song of the Year.

2001 - Santana returned to his Mexican hometown, Autlan De Navarro, after a 46-year absence. There he received keys to the city, while the town’s main street was named for the guitarist. Additionally, a statue was unveiled honoring Santana and his father, a prominent local musician.
